Dr. Markku V. J. Maula is tenured Professor of Venture Capital at Institute of Strategy, Department of Industrial Engineering and Management, Helsinki University of Technology TKK, Finland. Professor Maula's research interests focus on value creation related issues in business strategy and corporate finance with a particular focus on venture capital and private equity, corporate venturing, technology-based new firms, and innovation policy. He has lead several international research projects e.g. on the internationalization of venture capital and private equity in collaboration companies and funding agencies. His research has received international awards and has been published in top-tier international scholarly journals including Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Business Venturing, Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice, and Research Policy. Prof. Maula is also a member of several boards and committees such as PEREP_Analytics, Venture Cup Finland Foundation, and the Research Committee of the Entrepreneurship Division of the Academy of Management. In addition to his research and teaching roles, he has acted as an advisor to firms and government agencies in issues related to venture capital, corporate venturing, and innovation policy both in Finland and abroad.
